Bulimia

If you have bulimia, this means you are eating and purging. You may be purging normal amounts of food or you may be binge eating and then purging. A binge is different for everyone but often times it means four servings or more. There may be recurrent episodes of binge eating where you eat very fast and feel out of control. The most common method of purging is vomiting.

Compulsive exercising, strict dieting, fasting, using laxatives, diuretics, amphetamines, and diet pills are also methods of purging.

Regardless of the frequency of the binge-purge episodes this is a good time to seek the help of a psychotherapist. The sooner you get some help stopping this cycle of self abuse the easier it will be to recover and put this behind you. The longer you delay treatment the more ingrained these habits become.
