The "What's
Eating You?" Group
Do you eat compulsively or for emotional reasons? Do you binge? Do you purge?
If you answer yes to any of these, this group can help you gain control of your
eating behavior. Obsessive thoughts serve a purpose. Your food and body image obsessions are distracting you from uncomfortable thoughts and feelings. The group will help you learn how to process feelings. A supportive and confidential atmosphere helps people work through emotional issues.
Why is food so important to you?
What does food mean to you?
What is food a substitute for?
Answering these questions is a part of the group experience for each person.
Eating has come to have great emotional significance for many people. At times,
psychological needs are met through eating behaviors. As these needs are
understood and alternative means for satisfying them are identified, greater
control of eating can be achieved. You will no longer perceive food as a source
of emotional support.
Who is the leader?
Jill C. Eilenberger, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Eating Disorder Specialist, will be leading the group. She is a clinician experienced in
helping individuals cope with eating difficulties. Her warm and upbeat approach
enables people to express their feelings and explore new ways of thinking and
acting.

What do others say about the group?
This group was incredibly important to me at a time when I was relocating to
Charlotte. The support provided by Jill's facilitating skills helped to assure
that I did not use food to cope with the stress of the move.
Sr. Technical Consultant
Group-Summer 1995
The group was well thought out and well prepared.
Administrative Assistant
Group-Spring 1998
I enjoyed and look forward to group every week. It totally changed my life. I
still use many of the skills I learned there. Jill never let any of us be
slackers, so to speak, and I personally needed that little shove. I highly
recommend Jill to anyone in my situation.
